What is BDIX?
BDIX (Bangladesh Internet Exchange) is the national peering point where Bangladeshi ISPs exchange local traffic directly instead of sending it over expensive international links. Because BDIX traffic stays inside the country, BDIX servers are fast and usually do not use your international data allowance. Read: What is BDIX?
What is an FTP server?
An FTP (File Transfer Protocol) server is a computer that stores files and lets other devices download them. A BDIX FTP server is simply one hosted inside the Bangladesh Internet Exchange, so Bangladeshi users can browse and download at local-network speed.
What is an IP address?
An IP address is the numeric address of a device on a network: like a postal address for data. BDIX servers use private IPv4 addresses such as 10.16.100.244 or 15.1.1.1, which you type into a browser or FTP client to connect.
Private vs public IP addresses
BDIX servers sit in private ranges (10.x, 172.16–31.x, 192.168.x and the 100.64–127.x carrier range). They are only reachable when your ISP peers with BDIX. Your own public IP is different: that is what the internet sees. Check: What is my IP?
What is IPTV?
IPTV is television delivered over an internet protocol (IP) network instead of cable or satellite. Many BDIX live-TV servers stream channels over IPTV, which you open in a player app using a playlist (M3U) or portal (XTREAM) URL. Guide: Watch BDIX Live TV with an IPTV player
What is an M3U / XTREAM URL?
An M3U is a playlist file listing stream URLs. XTREAM is a login-based portal format (server, username, password). BDIX IPTV servers provide one of these, which you paste into an IPTV player to load live channels.
Mbps vs MB/s: what is the difference?
Mbps (megabits per second) is how ISPs quote speed; MB/s (megabytes per second) is how file transfers are usually shown. There are 8 bits in a byte, so 10 Mbps ≈ 1.25 MB/s. Convert: Bandwidth calculator
What is peering?
Peering is when two networks connect and exchange traffic directly. ISPs that peer with BDIX can reach BDIX servers without leaving Bangladesh, which is why those servers load much faster than international sites.
What is an index server?
An index server (like the FTPBD / B.net index) is a directory that lists BDIX servers and their content categories. Instead of remembering every IP, you browse the index to find which server has what you want. See: FTPBD / B.net Index
What is latency (ping)?
Latency is the round-trip time for a packet, measured in milliseconds. Lower is better. On BDIX, latency is usually a few milliseconds because the traffic never leaves the country. Test: BDIX tester
What is a CDN node?
A CDN (content delivery network) node is a mirror copy of a server placed closer to users. Many BDIX servers publish cdn1/cdn2 nodes (different IPs, same content) so you can switch if one node is slow or down.
